Grief reactions, like everyday emotions, would come and go, and change with time and circumstances.
As we go through the journey of bereavement, the goal is not to "recover," but to learn how to "adjust" to life without our loved one. We learn how to walk with grief and pain, to express our emotions appropriately, to transform and sublimate our grief, and to continue to live well.
As with every journey, everyone takes different time and ways.
If you continue to experience extremely intense grief reactions which get even worse over time, exceed the expected norms and have significantly disrupted your daily functioning, you may need to be alerted and should seek professional support.
